Overview
Dawn Berlitz, formerly known as Hikari Yukimura, is the Sinnoh League Champion, a Coordinator, Founder of the Berlitz Fashion Line, a model, and a performer in various arts. She gained the public’s attention and popularity after the media caught wind of her progress in her Pokemon Battling and Coordinating career. In a little less than a year of beginning her journey, she took down Team Galactic, defeated the Elite Four, and dethroned Cynthia– resulting in her becoming the current Sinnoh Champion. Shortly after earning her Championship, she started pursuing other ventures, such as going to college and starting a career in the fashion industry. She graduated from Sinnoh State University as a double major, with Bachelor Degree’s in both Fashion Design and Musical Theater in 2016. Since then, she's launched her own fashion brand under the name "BERLITZ"
Biography
Born to former world class Coordinator Johanna (Ayako Yukimura), Hikari grew up with a love for Pokemon, fashion and performing. She was named after the time of day she was born, Johanna quotes that "It was the rising of the sun that inspired the name given to her." As a child, Hikari performed in school plays, taking up small singing roles and acting roles where she portrayed actual Pokemon. Taking inspiration from her mother, her dreams and aspirations would revolve around Pokemon-- to become a great trainer on her own, and also the kind of coordinator that could make a name for herself outside of her mother's legacy. She lived a relatively normal life up until the age of 13, where she would finally embark on her very own Pokemon journey with her stage name, Dawn Berlitz.
Personality.
Flaws: Stubborn, Impulsive, Petty, Pushes herself too hard at times, Can get overly emotional, and Quick to fight when physically provoked.
Strengths: Independent, Self assured, Creative, Cherishes her friends, Humble, Incredibly empathetic, Knowledgeable on Pokemon myths, and will always fight for what she believes in.
Breakthrough with Pokemon Battling.
It wasn’t until she started earning ribbons in contests and chasing down Team Galactic that she’d been noticed by the media. She had a few badges under her belt at the time, and was featured on many Sinnoh Live Interviews. In a span of several months after beginning her journey, she made a solid name and notable reputation for herself in Pokemon Battling, taking the world by storm after collecting all eight gym badges and becoming the newest league champion to date.
Team Galactic, Cyrus and the Distortion World.
"It was never really my intention to become some sort of hero." Dawn states in a 2010 documentary, titled "The Rise and Fall of Team Galactic" penned as the Sinnoh's Savior at the time, she agreed to take part of the interview. "I was angry, stubborn, and felt like... I couldn't just sit by and let them steal Pokemon from trainers. I thought, all of this, and for what? For them to create a new world? I thought they were some kind of crazy cult at the time, but little did I know... they never stopped at just stealing from innocent trainers."
She would elaborate, quoting that, "They went after the lake near my hometown. Lake Verity. I don't know how or why, but somehow I always felt that I had this bond with Mesprit. So, deep inside me, there was this strong desire to save Mesprit. I was livid when I failed to do so, I felt it was my responsibility to do everything in my power to get the three Lake Pokemon back. And of course, I was relieved when I was finally able to set them free-- but Cyrus had already made his way to Mt Coronet by the time I saved them."
When asked about the accusations against her, about whether or not she killed Cyrus while they were in the Distortion World, she simply responded with:
"Let me make it clear, on record, that I did not kill Cyrus. I did not abandon him in the Distortion World, he chose to stay there, and we all know that the space in that world is made up of entirely different, unpredictable matter from our world, so if he stayed there long enough, there's a possibility he could have died there. But if that is sadly the case, then I had nothing to do with that. Cynthia and I tried to save him. And I live with the regret, every single day, that I didn't try hard enough."
Moving further into the interview, Dawn would confirm that she has a positive business relationship with Saturn, going as far as assisting him by using the funds from her championship to contribute to the revival of Team Galactic, now known as "Galactic Energy" where Team Galactic would use their resources for good-- to better the Sinnoh region, for real this time, rather than lying about it on their commercials.
Undergoing Therapy
Dawn was diagnosed with depression shortly after Cyrus's defeat at the Distortion World, though there is a major possibility that it began when her first attempt at saving Mesprit failed. Her self worth and confidence continued to deteriorate even after her success against Team Galactic, due to the rumors flying around that she had left him for dead in the Distortion World. For a short while, she hid herself away from the media, and started seeing a therapist. She checked herself into rehab after developing a gambling addiction, as she used it as a means to gain victory through chance, as sometimes winning would temporarily refuel her self worth. Though it would come to bite her in the ass when she realized she had no money for supplies to challenge Volkner, let alone the Pokemon League. Realizing the damage she did to herself and her Pokemon, she made the decision to stop gambling. So, after spending some time in rehab, Dawn went right back to training rigorously, and challenged Volkner. The victory she had against him was special, since he was seemingly disinterested and forgot what it was like to have a fun battle. When he expressed how she got him back on his feet again, she no longer felt the need to gamble anymore. And in turn, her own depression would decrease significantly.
In 2010, Dawn would check into rehab again after a suicide attempt on Newmoon Island. She heavily relapses back into gambling, and had to make a return to therapy. The progress on her mental health would then get better after a little encounter with Mesprit.
From Savior, To Empath
Legend says that if a human touches Mesprit’s body, they will lose the ability to feel emotions three days later.
Heartbroken, scared, and panicked Dawn sought shelter in Mesprit’s cavern at the base of Lake Verity. It became all too much for her– the nightmares playing with her head after her encounter with Darkrai on Newmoon Island. The creature’s dark whispers that convinced Dawn that she was responsible for taking Cyrus away from his grandparents, Darkrai then exploited her greatest weaknesses, almost manipulating her to take her own life. And though the Lunar Wing saved her, the experience caused her to become manic. This drove her to take the extreme measures, the only answer that seem to be left– by asking Mesprit to take away her emotions.
“Help me.”
Dawn pleaded desperately.
Mesprit seemingly agrees, taking pity on the Savior, by allowing Dawn to touch her tail, absorbing everything she felt since the start of her journey.
Three days later, however, the weight of the entire world fell to her heart. What was supposed to be her escape from emotional burden, had turned into the exact opposite of what she anticipated– Dawn felt every single emotion from those around her. It was as if she’d been hit by a million different feelings, all at once. The joy and pain of complete strangers would become her own– and it was not at all what Dawn had asked for. So she rushes back to Lake Verity, demanding an answer from Mesprit.
“What is the meaning of this?“
She hissed, clenching her chest tightly.
"I'm sorry, Dawn– I can’t do what it is you’ve asked me to. You don’t truly understand the gravity of what it means to never feel anything ever again. I know that it hurts, and you may not understand it right now, but what you have here is a special ability you can use to help those around you. You have always been a special person. That’s how you became Sinnoh’s Savior, and now– you’re an Empath. I’ve decided that you are fit for this newfound power, and along the way I hope you’re able to sort out the pain that lies within yourself. Becoming emotionless is not the way to deal with it, and this is to teach you to understand why that is. Don’t think of this as your punishment, Dawn– this is your gift. And you’re going to get a lot better at controlling it overtime. I believe in you.”
Mesprit explains all of this to her before disappearing, leaving Dawn to internalize just exactly how she would deal with her new power.
It wasn’t exactly easy, going outside everyday to be hit with a swarm of emotions that did not belong to her. Or, going to sleep with someone else’s thoughts keeping her up late at night. Though, Dawn would later on manage to master the ability to sense feelings of the people in her general vicinity, learning to distinguish whose emotions were whose if there were multiple people in the same room. This ability also allows her access to another’s general personality, if the person has ill or pure intent, and sometimes even thoughts if they’re connected to their emotions.
Post Championship
Tired of letting her depression, struggles with her powers of empathy and bad behavior in the media define her, Dawn set out to pursue the other aspirations she had growing up. She got her GED and was accepted into Sinnoh State University, initially as just a Musical Theater major. Occasionally, she'd make trips to Unova to partake in Pokemon Musicals for her classes and later became an international student after changing to becoming a double major so that she could also study fashion in Kalos.
Berlitz Fashion Brand.
After graduating from Sinnoh State University, Dawn would take a hiatus from stage acting and modeling to rigorously pursue a career in the fashion industry as an aspiring designer. She used the money saved up from her championship to launch her own fashion brand on July of 2016, currently known as “Berlitz.” the initial launch featured a line of dresses for weddings, proms, and all sorts of other occasions. The collection was generally well received, which would then set Dawn on a secure path in a career in the fashion industry. She has fashion lines in Unova, Kalos, Alola, and is in the process of releasing a new one in Galar.
Her official headquarters are in Hearthome City, Sinnoh.

Things you need to know about my Dawn.
Dawn’s empathy is a huge part of her character, so it can affect how threads go. I do not want this to be confused for god modding, as there is a backstory on how she became one on my About page, which also includes the drawbacks of her ability.
Apathetic muses are immune to this, for obvious reasons.
Unless there’s some other supernatural reason why Dawn can’t read your character’s emotions, 9/10 she knows how they’re feeling and has a general sense of their thoughts, intentions, and general personality so long as those things are tied to their emotions.
Her power can sometimes be off, though. It’s mostly effective if your character is in her general vicinity.
The only reason why your character should know she’s an Empath, is if your character has a supernatural reason themselves, has the ability to find out along the way, or if they’ve been a resident in the region of Sinnoh during the timeline where Dawn had been turned.
I do also portray Pokeani Dawn, so please do not hesitate to ask if you want to plot with my portrayal of her anime verse.

After a long, self reflecting journey in the Hoenn region, Dawn takes Sinnoh by storm yet again when she makes her return, earning her way up to being crowned as Top Coordinator. With her biggest dream fulfilled, she begins to establish a new career in the world of Pokestyling.

Dawn Berlitz will be turning 27 in fall and thriving in her career(s) in championship, coordinating, and fashion designing. She is now in the process of releasing her BERLITZ collection in Galar.

Post Platinum/BW2. She is turning 18 and has started her freshman year at Sinnoh State University. College misadventure and parties ensue.

May - @EruditeDesire: This is one of her best friends and confidant. They met during college, and Dawn loves her with her entire heart and soul. May is one of the very few that Dawn trusted with her empathy secret right off the bat-- she finds May to be smart, adorable, and a great listener.
Cheryl - @vauntedhealer: BABY. ABSOLUTE BABY. THIS WOMAN CAN DO NO WRONG. Okay, on a real note, she and Dawn live together in a nice little apartment in Canalave. Cheryl understands Dawn's abiities and struggles more than anything, and although they differ in lifestyles, Dawn finds herself enjoying more of Cheryl's peaceful and quiet activities the more time passes by.
N - @Nachurarukingu: The two share the ability to understand what a pokemon is saying and feeling, and bonded over that. Dawn was struggling with her powers at the time they met, and N was the very kind man that helped her channel it a lot better. She owes him a lot...
Green Berlitz - @KantosSophic: Initially when they met, it was during a tag team Tournament, and fate paired them together. A month after the tournament, Dawn sought to recruit Green into Berlitz Corp, and although Green seemed like she was withholding some feelings about it (later Dawn found out it was due to the surname they coincidentally shared) she did join! But not as a model, as Dawn initially wanted-- they agreed that Green would become a shareholder and gets an equal voice on the decisions made for the company. This was the start of their partnership... and sisterhood. Her mother, Johanna pointed out that Green and Dawn may not just share the same surname-- but the same father as well. Later they would come to find out that this was true. And they both to this very day agree-- that man wasn't shit for real. Green is one of the best assets to Dawn's fashion company and her brains are an absolute must. She is the best big sister anyone could ever ask for.
Serena Gabena - @KalosianIcon: The two met during Dawn's junior year of college, where she went to Kalos to study abroad. They were at someone's penthouse party, and Serena noticed Dawn taking shots like crazy and challenged her to a friendly competition. Serena won, but Dawn held her own. They got to talking about their heroic reputations in their home regions, and realized they had a lot in common with their aspirations to be in the fashion industry. They became fast friends that day, and even after Dawn graduated, they still kept in touch.
Saturn - @RingOfSaturnus: Of course, these two were initially on opposing sides. They didn't really care for each other, but right after what happened at Spear Pillar, Dawn visited Galactic HQ again and Saturn confessed to not knowing Cyrus's true intentions and that he no longer wanted to base Team Galactic around Cyrus's initial dreams. They didn't really become friends or anything, but it was a start of a mutual understandind. Later, she returned again after receiving her empath powers, explaining to Saturn what had happened to her and inquiring about any other plans Cyrus had in the works about erasing emotions. Saturn claimed to not know anything at first, but eventually told her about Cyrus's Fail Safe Plan, which involved the Azure Flute that can be used to summon Arceus. Cyrus never followed through with that plan, just because there wasn't really proof of the existence of God but still gave her Cyrus's blue prints with the music notes that could be used to summon Arceus, all she had to do, was find the flute. He noticed something off about Dawn, pointing out that her desire to get rid of her emotions reminded him of how Cyrus wanted to get rid of the human spirit.
Later, after Dawn summoned Arceus, she came back and returned the blueprints to him, stating that she wouldn't need them anymore. Saturn-- though he would never admit this, was glad that she kept her empathy. After this, they stayed in contact, and Dawn donated some funds to help Saturn start up an energy source project. It's too big of a stretch to say that they are friends, but they are civil and friendly with each other.
Gary Oak - @smellyaIater: Though Dawn's grown out of calling him the grandson of a poet, she still makes jokes about wanting him to write a poem for her on the spot. The two share the same kind of high end lifestyles in common-- but their friendship itself is ANYTHING but superficial. Occasionally she shows him her designs to get his opinion on if she should work on it or release it-- and his opinion has saved her a lot of times, simple adjustments from a consumers point of view can be a MAJOR help. If anyone has an eye for fashion, it's Gary Oak.
Touko Yin - @FistOfIdeals: She is basically Dawn's voice of reason. But when it's Touko whose breaking down? The roles reverse. Dawn found her unconscious body at the cave of Lake Verity, and dragged her to the surface. It turns out that Touko made her way to Sinnoh through the Cave of Being. When Touko woke up, she recognized Dawn and was happy to be in Sinnoh-- she explained to Dawn that she was looking for someone important to her, and Dawn offered to help. They traveled the entire region to look for a man named N, and during that time they bonded-- had some emotional moments, but in the end, Touko was ready to venture to other regions, but before she left, she asked for Dawn's help in submitting an audition tape to the Castelia Performing Arts Conservatory. They filmed it in front of the garden of Dawn's villa, and after they both got accepted into their respective colleges, they kept in touch.

Ash Ketchum - @prideofpallet: There is absolutely no one in the world like him. No one fights harder for her than Ash. He is one of her best friends in the whole wide world, they've always had each others back and rooted for each others successes. The day Ash became the Indigo League Champion was a moment of happiness for her, she watched all of his matches while she was on her journey in Hoenn and rooted for him, and by the time they reunited again, they both had good news for each other. Even after the journey she shared with him and Brock, the two always keep in close contact to hang out, sometimes they catch up when they're in each others region, and sometimes they attend high end functions together with all of the friends they made on their journey. To this day, as the two are approaching adulthood with many success stories under their belt, they remain BFFs.
Cyrus - @GalacticEmpyre: After many years of trauma and guilt for the events of the Distortion world, Dawn had finally put her own fears towards Cyrus aside in favor of a more civil relationship. Though their newly blossoming friendship seems to be experiencing many complications (such as Cyrus's inital trouble with admitting they're friends) there is still hope that he may find happiness in their world. But, until then, Dawn is still firm with him on her thoughts on his goals for a new world.
Cynthia - @MythicVirtuoso: Although she also knows Cynthia and her alter ego Artemis as two separate people, she maintains a good relationship with the two of them. Artemis is her mentor on the piano, and Dawn is a huge fan of her work. She took Dawn under her wing after she was dethroned from her championship as Cynthia, when she expressed interest in learning more about the piano at one of her conerts, not recognizing that they actually knew each other. Dawn's friendship with Cynthia herself is a lot more personal, and she's learned a lot about the world from confiding in her.

July 2009: Dawn receives Cyrus's "Fail Safe" blueprints from Saturn, containing music sheets to the song needed to summon Arceus with the Azure flute. This is a part of her plan to summon God to take away her Empathy, and she dedicates the rest of the year to finding the flute.
December of 2009: Dawn finally finds the flute and encounters Arceus and is encouraged to travel to the Unova region on New Years Eve.
January of 2010: Dawn meets N Harmonia Gropius ( @Nachurarukingu ). She spends the rest of winter befriending him, as he teaches her to control her empathy. She entrusts him with the Timespace Orbs.
February 2010, Pre-BW1 Events: Dawn returns home to practice controlling her Empathy, and dedicates her time into studying for the GED test.
March of 2011: Meets and befriends Touko, and gives her funds to go to her dream performing arts school.
September 2012, beginning of BW2/XY Events: Dawn is enrolled in Sinnoh State University as a double major in Musical Theater and Fashion Design. She also travels to Unova for musical performances and does work for Pokestar Studios.
November 2014: Becomes International Student and travels to Kalos to further study fashion.

DISCLAIMER
I'm not going to claim any of the information listed forward as fact, or that these are headcanons you should abide by ic/ooc. These are here so that you can get context/understanding of the Gameverse/Pokeaniverse that Dawn lives in, and it's also here for my pure enjoyment. I tried very hard to be as canon as possible, but everything here is sort of just, Sinnoh re-imagined. Regardless, don't come for me for the fact that these are "wrong" because I'm never going to push these headcanons onto your character and they Sinnoh they live in. With that being said, I do hope you like my ideas.
World Building
The Resort Area is a turnt down, Pokemon equivalent to Los Angeles. There's not really much of a night life, clubbing doesn't really exist due to the city's quiet and relaxing nature. But a lot of high profiled trainers, coordinators, and celebrity hairstylists live there. And it's quite difficult for the paparazzi to get access through because it's sort of a gated community for celebrities to live in peace and have privacy in their lives.
In the Survival Area, the Battleground is split into three sections. Obviously the main space is for battling, the other section with the long counter and chairs lined up is the bar, and at the corner of the Battleground, is a lounging area for people to do hookah, chill, and spectate battles if they wish. Between 10pm and 2am, the Battleground closes for minors, and the battlefield turns into a dance floor and the Battleground at that point becomes a full on club.
There are temples dedicated to the legendaries scattered throughout the Sinnoh region, but the most popular and frequented temples are in Celestic Town and Eterna City. These temples are known for having the most accurate records on Sinnoh legendaries. Lunar New Year festivals are also the most popular in Celestic Town.
Jubilife TV often showcases recordings of Milotic and Gyrados dances from all over Sinnoh.

To the left side of the entrance, is a pool with a sunbathing area, and water fountains made out of bricks and stone. Across the pool, is a bar area. On the second floor, pots of berries and flowers can be seen on each balcony.
